Messaro and Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) both let you send email and SMS from one account, but they price it and package it very differently. Brevo sells email volume first and treats SMS as a credit top-up. Messaro sells email and SMS together in the same plan, with a builder that now does drag and drop, templates, and full AI design.
This comparison sticks to numbers you can check. Every Brevo figure below comes from the published plan builder on brevo.com/pricing, on monthly billing, checked on August 16, 2026. Every Messaro figure comes from our own pricing page. Both platforms discount annual billing, Brevo by 10% and Messaro by roughly 20%, so if you compare annual to annual the gaps stay similar.
The short answer
- Sending under 5,000 emails and no SMS. Brevo is cheaper on paper at $9 a month. Read the Starter plan limits first, because automation and A/B testing are not in it.
- Sending email and SMS together. Messaro is cheaper and simpler. SMS credits are in the plan instead of being a separate purchase.
- Growing email volume. At 20,000 emails a month Messaro Professional is $39 against $69 for Brevo Standard, and Messaro includes 1,500 SMS credits on top.
- You need WhatsApp, push, popups, and a CRM in one suite. Brevo has more surface area, though most of it sits on the $499 Professional plan.
What each platform is built for
Messaro
Messaro is built around the idea that email and text should live in the same campaign, the same automation, and the same inbox. You get an AI-powered email builder, SMS campaigns with credits included in the plan, two-way conversations, and reporting that covers both channels together. Pricing is one monthly number that already contains your email allowance and your SMS credits.
Brevo
Brevo started as an email service provider and grew into a broad suite: email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, popups, landing pages, a sales CRM, and a loyalty product. It is a genuinely capable platform with a long track record in deliverability, and it does not charge you by list size. The trade-off is packaging. Features are spread across four tiers plus paid add-ons, and SMS is never included in the plan price.
Pricing: what you actually pay
Messaro plans
Plans include both an email allowance and monthly SMS credits. One US or Canadian text costs one credit, a UK or EU text costs three. Top-up credits start at $0.015 and fall to $0.013 above 25,000, and they never expire.
| Plan | Monthly | Emails / month | SMS credits / month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 500 | Top-up only |
| Starter | $19 | 7,500 | 500 |
| Professional | $39 | 20,000 | 1,500 |
| Business | $89 | 50,000 | 3,000 |
| Scale | $499 | 250,000 | 20,000 |
Brevo plans
Brevo's price moves with the email volume you select, so a plan name on its own does not tell you much. The Free plan caps you at 300 emails a day and keeps Brevo branding in the footer.
| Plan | From | What that price buys |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 300 emails a day, Brevo branding on every send |
| Starter | $9 | 5,000 emails, no marketing automation, no A/B testing |
| Standard | $18 | 5,000 emails plus automation, A/B testing, 1 landing page, 1 seat |
| Professional | $499 | 150,000 emails, WhatsApp, push, popups, 10 seats, AI segmentation |
The same email volume on both platforms
This is the comparison that matters, because Brevo's entry prices are quoted at 5,000 emails a month and most businesses outgrow that quickly. Messaro figures include SMS credits. Brevo figures are email only.
| Emails / month | Messaro | Brevo Starter | Brevo Standard |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5,000 | $19 (7,500 emails + 500 SMS) | $9 | $18 |
| 20,000 | $39 (20,000 emails + 1,500 SMS) | $32 | $69 |
| 50,000 | $89 (50,000 emails + 3,000 SMS) | $56 | $97 |
Two things stand out. At the very bottom of the range Brevo is cheaper, and we are not going to pretend otherwise: if you send 5,000 plain newsletters a month and never touch SMS, $9 is hard to beat. Once you want automation, that comparison becomes $19 against $18, and Messaro's $19 also carries 500 texts.
From 20,000 emails upward the picture changes. Messaro Professional at $39 undercuts Brevo Standard at $69 while including 1,500 SMS credits, which would cost about $22 as a separate top-up. At 50,000 emails it is $89 against $97, again with 3,000 texts on the Messaro side.
What the plan price does not include
Comparison tables usually stop at the headline number, and that is where Brevo quotes get away from people. Watch for these:
- SMS is never bundled. Credits are bought separately and priced by destination and volume, on top of the plan.
- Removing Brevo branding from your emails costs $12 a month on Starter. It is included from Standard up.
- Standard includes one marketing seat. Each additional seat is $12 a month.
- Marketing automation, A/B testing, advanced reporting, and send time optimization all start at Standard, not Starter.
- WhatsApp, popups, and web or mobile push are Professional features, which starts at $499 a month.
- The sales CRM has its own ladder. Sales Essentials is $31 a month per seat on monthly billing.
Messaro's equivalent list is shorter. Every plan sends without Messaro branding, automation is not tier-gated, and the only variable cost is extra SMS credits if you send more texts than your plan includes.
SMS pricing
Brevo prices SMS by destination and volume and sells it as credits you buy on top of your subscription. That is a reasonable model, but it means your monthly cost is two numbers rather than one, and a busy text month is a separate invoice line.
Messaro includes credits in the plan and publishes the top-up rate: $0.015 falling to $0.013 above 25,000 credits, with no expiry. A dedicated US number costs 200 credits a month, and a US toll-free number costs 300. You can see the whole curve before you commit.
Bulk pricing calculator
Top-up creditsTop-up credits never expire, so buying at the cheaper tier costs you nothing in risk. UK and EU destinations use 3 credits per text.
Email builder: the part that changed
Historically this was Brevo's clearest advantage. It is not anymore. Messaro's builder was rebuilt around three ways of working, and you can move between them on the same email.
Drag and drop
Blocks on the left, live canvas in the middle, styling on the right. Drop in columns, buttons, headings, text, images, video, social links, and dividers, then style them inline. Nothing requires HTML, and the layout stays responsive on mobile without building a separate mobile version.

AI that designs the email, not just the copy
Describe the email you want and Messaro generates the entire template: layout, sections, imagery placement, and copy, on brand and ready to send. From there you refine with prompts, edit blocks by hand, or drop into the HTML directly. That is a meaningful difference from an AI content generator that writes a subject line and a paragraph into a template you still have to build. If you want the background on why this matters, we wrote about LLM-powered email marketing separately.

Templates
The library covers the campaigns most teams actually send: product launch, weekly newsletter, abandoned checkout, welcome series, webinar invite, post-purchase follow-up, upsell offer, re-engagement, announcement, and event reminder, filterable by ecommerce, SaaS, agency, and announcements. They are responsive starting points rather than rigid layouts, so you can strip a template back to a shell and rebuild it.
Brevo's editor
Brevo's drag and drop editor is mature and pleasant to use, with a large library of industry templates and an AI content generator for subject lines, copy, and tone. On Standard and above you also get AI send time optimization, which picks a per-contact send moment. Where it stops is generation: the AI writes into your design, it does not produce the design.

SMS marketing
Both platforms send campaign and transactional texts. The difference is how far the channel goes after the send.
Messaro
- Two-way conversations in a shared inbox, with email replies in the same place
- SMS credits included in every paid plan, with published top-up rates
- Cost preview before a send, so you know what a blast costs before you press go
- 10DLC registration handled in-product, plus opt-out and consent tracking
- AI assistance on message copy and replies
Brevo
- SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, with SMS available on every tier
- Credits bought separately, priced by volume and destination
- Automation can trigger a text as a step in an email workflow
- Conversation features are lighter, and the inbox is oriented around chat and email
If SMS is a supporting channel that occasionally fires inside an email flow, Brevo covers it. If texting is a primary channel where people reply and someone has to answer them, that is the case Messaro was designed for. Our complete guide to SMS marketing covers how those programs are usually structured.
Automation and segmentation
Brevo's automation is strong and has been around a long time, with unlimited multi-step workflows, web and event tracking, contact scoring on Professional, and AI-suggested segments at the top tier. The catch is the floor: automation begins on Standard, so the $9 Starter plan is a broadcast tool.
Messaro gives every paid plan event and time-based triggers, dynamic segments that update themselves, and personalization tokens for names, locale, and custom fields. Crucially, a workflow can branch across channels, so a sequence can send an email, wait, then follow up by text if there was no open, without leaving the automation.
Reporting
Brevo reports well on email, with click heatmaps plus geography and device breakdowns from Standard up. Messaro reports on both channels in one view: opens, clicks, replies, delivery, opt-outs, and engagement trends, with link tracking down to the click. When you run email and SMS as one program, a single report is the difference between knowing which channel drove revenue and guessing.

Deliverability and compliance
Brevo has a long deliverability track record, sells dedicated IPs, and offers specialist support hours on its higher tiers. That experience is real and worth weighing if email is the whole of your program.
Messaro handles the parts that trip up US senders: 10DLC registration for texting, consent and opt-out records, domain authentication, list hygiene tools that strip invalid addresses before they hurt your reputation, and spam and link checks in the builder. If compliance is new to you, start with our summary of US SMS marketing laws.
Where Brevo is the better fit
- Email is your only channel and you send small volumes, where $9 a month is genuinely hard to beat
- You want a sales CRM, loyalty program, and marketing suite from one vendor
- You need WhatsApp, popups, or web push and have the budget for the Professional tier
- You are running landing pages and forms inside the same tool as your email
Where Messaro is the better fit
- You send email and SMS together and want one predictable monthly price
- Customers reply, and someone needs to answer them in a shared inbox
- You want AI to produce a finished email design, not just fill in the copy
- You are past 20,000 emails a month, where the price gap widens in Messaro's favor
- You do not want automation, A/B testing, or unbranded sending held back for a higher tier
Switching from Brevo to Messaro
Moving is mostly admin, and it takes an afternoon rather than a project plan:
- Export your contacts and lists from Brevo as CSV, including consent dates and any custom fields you rely on.
- Import them into Messaro and rebuild your segments, which is usually faster than translating old filter logic one to one.
- Authenticate your sending domain, then keep volumes gradual for the first week so your reputation carries over cleanly.
- Rebuild your core templates. Describe each one to the AI builder rather than re-importing HTML, which is quicker and gets you a cleaner base.
- Register for 10DLC if you are adding US texting, then run a small SMS campaign before you migrate the whole program.
How the wider market compares
Brevo is rarely the only option on the shortlist, so it helps to see where both platforms sit against the rest. We also compare the field in more depth in the best email marketing platforms for small businesses.

The verdict
Brevo is a capable, well-established suite, and at the very low end of email volume it is the cheaper choice. Be honest with yourself about which plan you would actually need, though: the features most teams consider basic, including automation, A/B testing, and sending without a vendor logo, start on Standard, and SMS is always a separate purchase.
For businesses running email and SMS as one program, Messaro is the better value and the simpler system. One price covers both channels, the email builder now matches Brevo on drag and drop and templates while going further on AI design, replies from both channels land in one inbox, and the SMS rates are published rather than quoted. At 20,000 emails a month you are comparing $39 with 1,500 texts included against $69 with none.
The fastest way to settle it is to build one email in each. Start free with Messaro, or book a demo and we will price your current volumes against your Brevo bill.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Messaro cheaper than Brevo?
At 20,000 emails a month, Messaro Professional is $39 against $69 for Brevo Standard, and Messaro includes 1,500 SMS credits. At 50,000 emails it is $89 against $97. Below 5,000 emails with no SMS, Brevo Starter at $9 is cheaper, though it excludes marketing automation and A/B testing.
Does Brevo include SMS in its plans?
No. Brevo lets you send SMS on any tier, but the credits are bought separately and priced by volume and destination on top of your subscription. Messaro includes monthly SMS credits in every paid plan and publishes top-up rates from $0.015 down to $0.013.
Is Messaro's email builder as good as Brevo's?
Both have a drag and drop editor, a responsive template library, and direct HTML editing. Messaro adds an AI builder that designs a complete template from a prompt, which you then refine by prompt, by block, or in the HTML.
Can I use AI to write emails in both platforms?
Yes. Brevo's AI content generator drafts subject lines and copy and adjusts tone. Messaro does that too, and also generates the design itself, plus rewrites, shortens, and translates existing copy.
Does Messaro have a free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes 500 emails a month with no credit card, and SMS credits can be added as a top-up. Brevo's free plan allows 300 emails a day but adds Brevo branding to your emails.
Can I move my list from Brevo without losing it?
Yes. Export contacts and custom fields from Brevo as CSV and import them into Messaro, keeping your consent records. Authenticate your domain and ramp volume gradually for the first week to protect your sending reputation.
Which platform is better for two-way conversations?
Messaro. Replies to both texts and emails land in one shared inbox, with AI assistance on responses. Brevo's conversation tools are lighter and built mainly around chat and email.
